Livingword Global Leadership Mission

DAY 23 | 3RD SEPTEMBER, 2025

Facts: Did you know?

To desire revival... and at the same time to neglect (personal) prayer and devotion is to wish one way and walk another. — A.W. Tozer

UNREACHED PEOPLE'S GROUP

PEOPLE'S GROUP: AREM

Historically, the Arem are nomadic hunter-gatherers, dwelling in caves or temporary shelters. They have recently transitioned to a more sedentary lifestyle, building permanent homes. They live in small, isolated communities, maintaining a traditional way of life. Their traditional marriage practices are observed, with an emphasis on clan and family ties.

Location: Central Vietnam (Quảng Bình Province) and Khammouan Province, Laos.

Population: Approximately 500–800 individuals.

Language: Arem (a Vietic language).

Religion: Predominantly animism and shamanism.

Christian Presence: Minimal; the Arem are considered an unreached people group.

Spiritual Beliefs

· Animism and Shamanism: The Arem believe in a world inhabited by spirits and practice rituals to appease these entities. Shamanistic practices are central to their spiritual life.

· Traditional Healing: They rely on shamans for medical and spiritual guidance, using herbal remedies and spiritual rituals.

Challenges to Evangelism

· Cultural Isolation: The Arem's remote location and traditional lifestyle make them difficult to access for missionaries and aid organizations.

· Linguistic Differences: The Arem language may not have extensive Christian literature or media resources, hindering effective communication of the Gospel.

· Spiritual Strongholds: Deep-rooted animistic beliefs and practices pose significant barriers to the acceptance of Christianity.

PRAYER POINTS.

· Ask the Lord to prepare the hearts of the Arem people to receive the Gospel with openness.

· Pray that the Lord to raise up and send faithful missionaries and local believers to reach the Arem.

· Pray for resources in the Arem language, especially Scripture, audio Bibles, and Christian teaching.

· Pray for Deliverance from Spiritual Strongholds such as animism, shamanism, and fear-based traditions.

· Pray for churches to be planted among the Arem and for strong discipleship to follow.
